We rose around 10.30, which was not bad going. It was as much as I could do to make porridge, drink tea, drink coffee, and get the fire going, before lunch. I'm not feeling that ill, just very slow. This afternoon we played Lord of the Rings monopoly for hours. I was made bankrupt by landing on a fortress, in time to make tea, but things quickly deteriorated soon after that.
Freddie had kept himself busy by just bimbling about, coming to sit on my lap and see what we were doing every now and then, going off to look at a computer and, mainly, playing with all the playmobil, castles, and riding stable that are strewn all over the place. I really don't mind them there, actually- it's just the furniture that gets in the way, but who needs furniture?
It was nice and calm all day. Only Joy was a bit restless- She really needs to get out and have some excerise! (Maybe a giant hamster wheel would come in handy right now?). I think Fergus is a bit ill, as he was hot and sleepless, though quiet, last night, and tonight. I left him with a book with loads of pictures in it becasue I needed a bit of time on my own before I go to bed. At least he hasn't been climbing the walls since their trip to Howarth was cancelled yesterday, due to their cousin having to go to see a doctor. (And, yes, I glibly remarked to her dad that doctors are rubbish with skin complaints, forgetting that he is one!).
And we later on listened to three of "Old Peter's Russian Tales", including Baba Yaga, which we have just read, from the library, and which is the Woman's hour story this week, but you can replay them here or read the here.
Then to bed, and we read a couple of chapters of Lord of the Rings (part 1). I had to do a bit of catching up myself, as it had been started by daddy, who is now back in Holland, but having read the Hobbit recently I kind of got the gist of it: Bilbo is now eleventy-one (I thought this was Fergus getting things mixed up!) and Frodo is is cousin. Right. I recognised some of the places from the game, ie Rivendell and Farmer Magotts. I thought Fergus might have been a bit scared of the Dark Riders last night, having seen a bit of the film, but I think he was just feeling a bit unwell. It didn't seem too scary to me, and I got into the swing of it quite easily.
Last night I finished No.1 Ladies Detective Agency, and started dwelling on all the books I have read this year and what I want to read. I might have to do a seperate post about this, if I can remember them.

loved the scarves. i have no kniting ability. hope you feel much better soon
thanks Helen. I think it's [knitting]just a matter of patience and really wanting to do it. If you can do a cat's cradle or tie a knot then you can knit, but maybe its one of those things that's easier to pick up when youre younger. I was about 9, like Joy.
