Today was quite an early start for us: We were back home by nine after dropping Joy off at the bus stop. I got a bit cross when I realised she was not wearing her coat, on the coldest day of the year, and we were halfway there, but she insisted she was warm enough in her layers and fleece. OK, maybe It was just a bit too cold and too early for me to be in a good mood.
I made some pink spangly playdoh after breakfast, for Valentine's, but this didn't last long, as Fergus got distracted by trying to find out what shape a real heart is, so they looked at books for a bit. Freddie asked me to help him find an "interesting book" while Fergus was perusing the encyclopedia, and got as far as "I" for Native American (Indians!), which caught his interest. I must remember to get out the books on this from Meg's GCSE days.

Freddie amused himself with a flexible "mirror" that came with some junk mail car brochure.
I made an impressive to-do list and completed most of it during the day, which included paying lots of bills, and doing a bit of washing and mending.

Bob came and made himself as useful as the temperature would allow: too cold to mix sand and cement, but only the pointing needs finishing now. They managed to clear the drains, which can't have been as frozen as the tubs on the ground, which yielded many thick slabs of ice, to be made into "ice collections" and sculptures, wheich were revisited later on, after dark, brrrr.
Bob also moved back the wendy house and even brought a piece of felt for it's roof to replace that which had finally completely all dropped off in the recent gales.
There was just no time left in the day to start the mosiac idea I had when I was sent this link for buying mosaic tiles. I thought we would have a practice go with what we had at hand before I sent for any real stuff. (because I can't wait!) I was inspired by the tiling I have been doing- it's so easy when you know how! I just have to have a go, and then I saw all Margret's mosaics at the weekend...
