I haven't had an entirely pleasant day today. I noticed at least two removal vans at the neighbouring farm. My neighbour died a couple of months ago, although it seems more recent to me. They were moving her stuff out. Later I learned that they had come to take the horses away and decided it was best to destroy them. instead. So Hannah and Jenile, most beautiful old horses that we have lived alongside for the past 5 1/2 years are now dead, too.
This picture was taken last week from the track, opposite our house. I know they were old, and seemed, especially after the death of their owner, to be perhaps going downhill. It was just so sad and sudden. That they weren't allowed to live out the rest of their days peacefully in the field of old trees. No, they had to go, with the furniture, and if they couldn't be moved, well, that was just tough. I don't know what my new neighbour thinks about us, or whether she cares how we feel, but his isn't exactly endearing me to her.
I was quite shaken and devastated by the news, which I heard from the neighbour on the other side, after he threatened to put our rabbits in a stew. I don't feel like I want to live here any more, which is funny, because earlier on I really did. I had a lovely walk out this morning, looking for my camera, which I thought must have fallen out out my pocket yesterday, but it turned out it was at home.
