i got the yearly boiler check done
they came within hours of me phoning after I got the signed-for letter

and the man managed to show me how to program the bloody thing!

finally

there are some tiny words at the bottom of the display that you can't see unless you kneel right down and squint your eyes up!

they say, "on" and "off" and "auto"

so now it is on auto on the timer
