last couple of days

In the last couple of days I have discovered the DVD. Yes, I have arrived in the 21st century at last, and reallised that there are ways of avoiding the constant barrage of questions for a bit while you get on and do something. Yesterday it was Return of the King (LOTR), which was full of battle scenes and dramatic music. I was decorating the room while they were watching. Today it was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which I saw none of as I was busy and resting, and I think Freddie wasn't that impressed as he wandered off to join me after not very long, and it went on for hours and hours.
Joy has been feeling ill with her tummy thing for a few days-I never can work out what it is- she won't eat, or even drink much, wants hot water bottles and baths and lies down a lot. At least she's quiet, which makes a change. Aw.
I was too tired to do much today, apart from a bit of sweeping and mopping. Well, Dave came round to do some tai chi and I had to clear a bit of floor space, and then we moved into the other room, so I had to sweep in there, too. At least I got two relatively tiday rooms plus a bit of practice.
I also phoned the estate agents to cancel the appointment to take measurements and photos (cheeky sod), only to discover that if I don't put it on the market by Wednesday, which is Aug 1, folks, I will have to get a Home Info Pack costing £400 and it will take weeks. Brendan failed to mention this to me. So I have had to resolve to do it. She was very sympathetic to my situation and said I only need to have a few rooms photographed to put it on the market, and more can be added later. So this weekend I shall mostly be: tidying, cleaning, finishing painting, etc.
But I'll just get this wedding out of the way first. Now all the kids are coming- B decided to sell his Cambridge tickets yesterday, so I have to find some clothes without holes in for them to look reasonably presentable tomorrow. Still not sure what I'm wearing as the very summery dress I got, which is now two sizes too big, is probably not going to be warm enough. The jacket needs taking in, as do the trousers I plan to wear underneath dress to keep me warm and enable the wearing of trainers (trendy black ones, not chavvy ones!) as I don't have suitable shoes, but maybe boots would be ok if it's wet... hmm. We went to the rehearsal yesterday and I had a go at my reading from the pulpit, and got over my nerves. Apparently you could hear me at the back. I still have tinitus, which was particularly bad while I was doing this. Interesting, it was like the sound of angels singing.

one other thing- I must remember to get Fergus a mirror in his room, when we move, for practicing superhero poses, as I saw him in Meg's room, with his hair all slicked back, shirt off.
